Football Receivers - How ro Develop Soft Hands
Not all great receivers have the natural talent of Terrel Owens or a
Randy Moss. However every football receiver can have the focus, work
ethic and the soft hands of Jerry Rice.
Soft hands can make the difference of a Great Catch or a dropped pass.
Soft hands are football skills any receiver can develop, learning to
catch the ball with the fingers, not the palms.
Soft hands start with focus, focusing on the ball as it comes to your
hands. Receivers keep your eyes focused on the ball as it comes towards
you. Focus your eyes and mind on making the catch, watch the ball all
the way into your hands. Then go for the yards after the catch.
Preparing to make the catch, bring your hands up, palms out, forming a
diamond shape with your thumbs and index fingers. The diamond shape
helps you close both hands around the ball, preventing the football from
passing through for a dropped pass.
Spreading the fingers wide creates a larger, wider catching area, giving
you football receivers the best opportunity to make the catch. Always
keep your fingers pointing up, do not allow any of your fingers to point
at the incoming ball. That can result in jammed or broken fingers.
In conclusion developing soft hands to catch like the pros requires
practice and dedication. Now there is a football receivers training aid
that can help develop soft hands and catch like the pros. Great Catch
will give you stronger fingers and softer hands, teaching football
receivers to catch with their fingers, instead of the palms.
