* Force the defense to think before they react
* Attack the entire field
* Take advantage of undisciplined and aggressive teams
In 2008, the Sioux Falls Cougars averaged 235.6 rushing yards per
game. Coach DeBoer has developed a play action passing package to
complement his run game and keep the defense on their heels. DeBoer
diagrams five play action passes: Base Boot, Y Corner, Z Post, Pin and
Naked. Each play is designed to force defenders to respect the run,
which opens up passing lanes. DeBoer uses game footage to present each
play in action with multiple formations and motions. The game tape
breakdown also shows how good quarterback and running back fakes make or
break a play. This play action package takes advantage of an aggressive
run defense and opens up the field by keeping the defense guessing.
